New blast furnace PT Krakatau Steel will start production in the third quarter of next year

Indonesian steel company PT Krakatau Steel's new blast furnace will be launched in the third quarter of 2022. There are two potential strategic partners and one candidate even signed a memorandum of understanding with Krakatau Steel.

“There is another partner who is interested in working with the blast furnace,” said Silmi Karim, director of the company. The new blast furnace will operate using iron sand technology, which uses mainly domestic raw materials. The use of iron sand can reduce production costs and reduce the import of raw materials from abroad.
