Nippon Steel Blast Furnace No. 1 shut down

Nippon Steel Corporation, Japan's largest steelmaker, said a furnace water leak could make it difficult to restart production or cut production by about one million tons of steel a year.

In response, China Steel Corporation (CSC), Taiwan's largest carbon steel producer, said it has received the relevant information and is closely monitoring and understanding it.

The accident at the Nippon Steel plant in Kyushu occurred on the 9th, mainly due to the leakage of pig iron from Blast Furnace No. 1, there were problems transporting pig iron to vehicles. Despite the fact that firefighters arrived to help and emergency measures were taken at the plant, it is known that the furnace was stopped.
