The Ukrainian metallurgical plant Zaporizhstal, which is part of the Metinvest group, canceled the protection regime for a part of the equipment, and then resumed the production of pig iron. A gradual resumption of production activities at the steel and rolling mills was also planned.
Since the Second World War, the plant has been shut down and restarted only once since the Second World War, the resumption of iron production was the most important and difficult stage, the sources said.
The company has resumed operation of the sinter plant and some sheet metal processing facilities. Most steel mills are looking to restructure their logistics to eliminate disruptions in transportation and secure shipments and supply of raw materials.
