Iron and steel production in Ukraine decreased in January-July

According to the Association of Metallurgists of Ukraine Ukrmetallurgprom, in the first seven months of 2022, pig iron production in Ukraine amounted to about 4.8 million tons, a decrease of 61.9% year-on-year.

During this period, the production of crude steel in Ukraine amounted to about 4.82 million tons, which is 62.1% less compared to the same period last year. Steel production in Ukraine amounted to about 4.23 million tons, decreasing by 62.7% compared to the same period last year.

Because of the war, many metallurgical enterprises in Ukraine were destroyed, logistics was interrupted. The export of steel from Ukraine from the Black Sea ports was also banned.
