Global pig iron production declined in July

According to statistics released by the World Steel Association (worldsteel), in July, global pig iron production was about 105 million tons, down 6.2% from the same month last year and down 5% from the previous month.

In July alone, Asian production was 87.2 million tonnes, down 6.1% month-on-month and down 4.2% year-on-year. Manufacturing in China was down 8.3% m/m and 3.6% y/y.

In the first seven months of this year, production was about 759 million tons, down 5.4% from last year.
