China Baowu Group to Build Zero-Carbon Sheet Steel Plant

China Baowu Group has published an environmental assessment report for its high value-added steel plate plant in Zhanjiang.

This publication indicates that this zero-carbon steelmaking plant is categorized as C3120 steelmaking and is located in the Zhanjiang Economic and Technological Development Zone at its current plant in Donghai Island.

The new facility will include one 220 ton electric furnace, one 220 ton ladle furnace, one 220 ton RH plant, one 2150 mm diameter continuous casting line, one direct reduced iron conveying system, one processing and processing production line steel slag, one 7-berth berth (10,000 tons of general cargo), and auxiliary facilities such as power supply and distribution, water supply and sanitation, gas heating, control and testing, living quarters, information communications, transportation, etc.

This plant is in line with China's industry policy requirements and related plans, creating new methods of combining hydrogen smelting and short electric furnace process, bringing green and low-carbon innovation.

The new melting capacity is 1.8 million tons per year, mainly for automotive sheets and silicon steel.
