Greece metallurgical industry is on the verge of stopping

In recent years, the steel industry of Greece has seriously suffered from a sharp decrease in the demand for metal rolling, which pushes the owners of the missile defense systems to stop production. Excessive metallurgical capacities in the country reached 4 million tons, while the demand for steel has never exceeded this level in the history of Greece.

Today, the level of internal consumption of steel in Greece has fallen to a record low level of 250 thousand tons compared to 2 million 200 thousand tons in 2008. The managers of the country's metallurgical enterprises openly declare losses: "The more we sell, the greater losses it brings."

The first swallow announcing the closure of production risks becoming the largest metallurgical company in the country of Halyvourgiki, which has invested more than 250 million euros in metallurgical production of Greece over the past couple of years. The company's administration has already asked their employees to take advantage of the voluntary dismissal program.

The rest of the country's metallurgical plants are also in an extremely difficult situation, since they were not able to cover the growing costs of electricity and natural gas, reports Ekathimerini.
