GAZ Foundry started mass production

At the site of the Gorky Automobile Plant, serial production of products from the new foundry of the GAZ Group began. The Nizhny Novgorod foundry is the most modern site in Russia for the production of iron castings for engines and allows us to meet the needs of domestic engineering and other industries in high-quality castings as part of import substitution programs. At the site of the Gorky Automobile Plant, serial production of products from a new foundry began. The Nizhny Novgorod Foundry (NLZ) was built in 2021, pre-series batches of castings have been produced since the end of 2021. GAZ Group's investments in production amount to 4.7 billion rubles, of which 500 million rubles are a soft loan from the Industrial Development Fund.

The enterprise has organized high-tech production of structurally complex large-sized cast iron castings for power units and other auto components. One of the most important areas for Russian mechanical engineering, mastered at NLZ, are engine blocks and cylinder heads. The plant also specializes in the production of castings for flywheels, crankcases, ventilated brake discs and clutch discs, gearbox housings and transfer cases, brake system components. The technological capabilities of the NLZ also make it possible to manufacture products for the needs of railway engineering, the oil and gas sector and other industries.

Nizhny Novgorod foundry with an area of ​​​​more than 50 thousand square meters. m is equipped with high-performance equipment of a new generation and provides a full technological cycle: from metal melting and rod manufacturing to the final processing of castings. The production site includes four key areas: core, molding, melting and chipping. Automated molding using Formimpress technology makes it possible to obtain high-quality imprints of a complex profile shape, and the production of liquid metal in medium-frequency crucible induction furnaces with frequency converters guarantees high product quality and cost-effectiveness of the production process.

The equipment involved in the production complies with modern standards of energy efficiency and environmental friendliness. The company has installed highly efficient air filtration and industrial emissions purification systems that provide maximum environmental protection. The design capacity of the Nizhny Novgorod foundry is over 60,000 tons of cast iron per year. The enterprise has created 260 high-tech jobs.


The Nizhny Novgorod foundry is expanding the metallurgical capacities of the Nizhny Novgorod site of the GAZ Group. The Gorky Automobile Plant operates production of iron and non-ferrous castings, the products of which are used at the enterprises of the GAZ Group and supplied to companies from various industries.
