Comprehensive modernization
The comprehensive project, worth more than 29 million zlotys (US$8.08 million), included the purchase and installation of a state-of-the-art correct machine, modernization of electrical infrastructure, advanced measuring systems and integration with an existing production line.
Thanks to the new technology, ArcelorMittal SSC can annually supply about 150,000 tons of high-performance sheets to the European market, targeting demanding industries such as railway, automotive and construction machinery.
Tests of various steel grades, including S355JR, S355MC, S500MC and S700MC, showed that 92 percent of the samples meet the highest Laser Premium standard, while all of them meet the requirements of Laser Classic after straightening and thermal cutting. These characteristics demonstrate the effectiveness of the new straightening process in reducing deformation and increasing material reliability.
The project managers emphasized that this innovation not only increases the uniformity and predictability of the process, but also enhances the competitiveness of ArcelorMittal SSC and provides tangible benefits to customers, such as increased production reliability.
