The manufacturer emphasized that the record-breaking performance followed the recent technological upgrade of the 220-ton electric arc furnace, originally supplied and commissioned by Danieli in 2014. The integration of Danieli's adaptive Q-MELT process control system made it possible to optimize furnace operation, ensuring equipment availability by 96.5%, even taking into account planned shutdowns and delays associated with the technological process.
According to Danieli, the furnace is currently operating with a carefully optimized metal charge mixture consisting of 61 percent hot DRI, 37 percent cold DRI, and two percent hot briquetted iron (HBI). Under these conditions, the furnace reaches a capacity of 324 mt per hour, while maintaining a specific electricity consumption of 493 kWh per metric ton.
